Welcome to Cooper Therapeutic Services: Mental Health Care & Clinical Supervision

I’m Scot Cooper, a Registered Psychotherapist based in Caledonia, Ontario. I offer in-person therapy for people in Caledonia and neighbouring communities, as well as virtual therapy throughout Ontario.

With nearly thirty years working in community mental health, I bring extensive knowledge and practical insight to supporting people through many of life’s challenges. This includes the effects of trauma, grief, emotional distress, overwhelm, experiences of injustice, and many of the concerns that are commonly described as mental health disorders.

I'm Scot, and I've dedicated my professional years to providing community mental health services in Haldimand, Norfolk, and neighbouring communities for close to three decades. These have been meaningful years, because I believe you should never have to shoulder distress alone. We need each other in this world.

Cooper Therapeutic Services is a place to share your story and enter into conversation that's down to earth, useful, and backed by years of study and experience. My approach is plain-spoken, focused on what you know and what you know how to do — to shape the life you want.

We can meet in an office, online, or outside, within the calming backdrop of a forest or the cool shade of a tree. The first step is simply to reach out.

Insurance Coverage & Deductions

Most insurance or extended health benefit plans cover counselling/psycotherapy services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist. Please consult your insurance provider to determine specific coverage options. Psychotherapy with a Registered Psychotherapist is tax-deductible, qualifying as a medical expense. However, please note that OHIP does not cover Psychotherapy services.

What to Expect

Let’s start with a phone call to see if we’re a good fit and to cover the basics of service. You can ask me your questions like about my approach, training, and education, and what to expect.

In our first session, we’ll discuss privacy, limits of confidentiality, what’s most pressing to you to address, and you’ll leave—even after this first conversation— with ideas to think about or things to try out. If you want to meet again, we’ll figure out a pace that’s just right for you.

Sessions can be in-person, online - camera optional, or by phone.

If I’m not the right fit, I help you find someone who is.
